Grandma Bevy's Visit
Grandma Bevy came out for a visit just after Christmas. It was great to see her. Ethan had fun with her and was sad to see her go.

Christmas Day
We enjoyed Christmas morning together as a family. We opened our stockings and presents from Santa. Then we picked up Ben for breakfast. The rest of the afternoon we enjoyed together relaxing and playing with new toys. The highlights were lego, playmobil and the Abbotsford Heat jersey (thanks, Grandpa lauder).

Christmas Dinners Begin...
We began our Christmas dinner celebrations at Reuben's Aunt Debbie and Uncle Vic's home on Dec. 21. What is usually a busy dinner with lots of children and excitement was quite quiet this year. The Kornicki family and Friesen family were both away for the weekend and as a result Ethan was the only child in attendance. The adults had fun with him though playing games and encouraging him to dress up and wear silly hats. We enjoyed our time together and the food provided.

Ethan's First Christmas Concert
What a show! The kids shared the songs that they had been working on in class with the parents. Ethan's favourite song was the "Clop, clop, clop" song. It told the story of Mary and Joseph looking for a room, but not finding one and ending up in a stable for the night. After the show, the students made Christmas crafts with their parents and enjoyed some Christmas goodies. It was a lovely Christmas celebration!

Our First Snow Day
It snowed today after about a week of cold (just below zero), but sunny weather. We have been patiently waiting and finally those beautiful, white flakes began to fall. We, of course hit the slopes right away because out here, one never knows how long the snow might last...
One of Ethan's friends from school was out enjoying the snow as well. Sophia thought it was hilarious to throw snowballs.

Ultrasound Update
Another trip to BC Women's Hospital has revealed that the heart "issue" seems to have resolved itself, thankfully. The doctor's didn't detect any missed beats on this ultrasound. However, the enlarged ventricle in the head is unchanged. A brain specialist came in to look at the ultrasound and after finding what look like a few blood clots, is wondering if there may have been some previous bleeding in the head at some point in the pregnancy. On Monday, I am having some blood work done to look into this possibility and to also screen for a possible blood disorder. We are scheduled to head back to BC Women's for another ultrasound on Jan.5, 2010.

Chilliwack Bruins Game with Friends
We went to Sunday's Chilliwack Bruins game with the Rideouts. Kalen, Ethan's friend was playing a game during the first intermission and we were excited to see him play. Ethan and Kalen had a great time playing together and cheering for the Bruins. The Bruins beat the Vancouver Giants 4 - 0. Go Bruins!

Our Christmas Tree
We went to Alder Acres this year to choose a special Christmas tree for our home. We found a special tree and Ethan helped his dad cut it down. Afterward, we visited the animals and enjoyed hotdogs and hot chocolate by the campfire. It was a perfect day!

Ethan Rides to School in a Firetruck.
During Fire Safety week back in October, we visited the fire station, as they were putting on an event for the community. In addition to the games, they had a silent auction to raise money for the Burn Fund. We bid on riding to school in a firetruck and won. So on Nov. 24, Ethan was picked up by Fireman Martin and Fireman Spencer and driven around the block on his way to school. Once they arrived, the fireman spoke to all of the students in Ethan's preschool class about fire safety and invited them all to take turns sitting in the firetruck. The firemen treated Ethan to a special Abbotsford Fireman hat and teddy bear. It was pretty exciting although Ethan was a bit nervous.

Grandpa's Visit
Grandpa came out for a quick weekend visit on Nov. 20 - 22. Ethan was so excited he was coming, but by the time Grandpa got in, late Friday night, Ethan was in bed. Ethan knew Grandpa would be at the house when he woke up on Saturday, so he was up bright and early, waiting for Grandpa outside of his door. Chloe was waiting too.
They didn't have to wait too long because grandpa was eager to see them too. Grandpa brought Ethan a giant tub of Tinker Toys as a surprise. They spent the morning building together and created a big car with a propeller and all.
We took Grandpa to an Abbotsford Heat game that night. Ethan and Grandpa cheered loudly for the Heat and had a great time together (I was surprised either of them had a voice after the game ended).
The next day, we watched football and played trains. Grandpa, Reuben and Ethan put an elaborate train track together while they watched.
Ethan enjoyed spending time with Grandpa and asks all the time when he is coming back to play.

Matt and Nik's Birthday Party
Ethan was invited to help Matt and Nik celebrate their 4th birthday party at the Semiahmoo Family Place in Surrey. They had lots to do there, from a giant bouncy castle with a slide to a play kitchen and lego tables. The theme was John Deere tractors and the highlight was definitely hitting the pinata. Ethan enjoyed himself and Matt and Nik had a great time too!
