Beach Day and another wonderful playdate

Today we packed up and headed for the beach with plans to meet up with friends.  The boys had a great time digging, tossing sand and just hanging out together.

After the tide rolled in we headed over to my friend, Michelle's for the afternoon.  Thanks Michelle for the fun and the ice cream!

Beach day!!

I have a love-hate relationship with the heat...I love it when, like today, we can enjoy spending time at White Rock Beach with friends...thanks Michelle for the pictures...

...but hate that we came home to a house that was 33 degrees INSIDE.  It was so hot in Abbotsford, Ethan's soccer practice was canceled.  Ugh!!  Putting kids to bed in temperatures of this magnitude, especially an infant that still thinks he needs to be swaddled to sleep (BTW any tips on transitioning him away from that would be gratefully received), is miserable (for them and me).  I did come home to Reuben installing an AC in our bedroom...I love him...cooler nights ahead!

Mission Beach

We thought Monday, May 31 would be a great day to hang out on the beach as it was Memorial Day and  knew it would be busy everywhere...well the beach was no exception, but we had a great time all the same.   The sun-drenched, white sand beach with its inviting pacific blue water was peaceful and made any potentially negative feelings associated with an overcrowded beach, quickly drift away.

We also spent some time at the playground (a day never feels quite complete without some playground time),

playing baseball,

and at Belmont Park, an oceanside amusement park.

We laughed when we saw a full-size BBQ being wheeled beach-side for the day.  So many families had brought so much to the beach they looked as though they were moving in for the weekend.  But a full-sized BBQ was, in our opinion, over-the-top.  We snapped this photo as proof for when we retold the story... ! :)
