Swimming

Ethan has become a fish!  After successfully completing Sea Turtle (the first level of swimming) last summer after his 5th attempt, he has sailed through the rest of the levels.  During spring break, he passed both Crocodile and Whale (Level 4 and 5) and conquered both the slide and the diving board!  Way to go, Ethan!

The Zoo

We spent another fun day at the zoo with the Kask's.  James and Ethan have so much fun playing together and being silly and we saw a few more animals up close too!

Kelowna

During spring break, we headed up to Kelowna, for a weekend, to visit Reuben's mom and help her do some work on her home.  We enjoyed our hotel that looked onto the lake and had fun at the Kelowna Art Gallery creating self-portraits.

Jonas

Jonas has become quite a clown.  He likes to make people laugh and tries hard to do things that he thinks are silly.  The best part, and the part that actually makes us laugh, is how hard he laughs at his own attempts.  Pictures, of course, don't capture the moment (note to self: take a video), but they do remind us of them.

Grandma's Visit

My mom came out for a visit to help us celebrate Jonas' first birthday and to meet her new granddaughter, Maya.  This time I got the settings on the camera correct! :)

Jonas' First Birthday Party

We celebrated Jonas' first birthday with family and few special friends at the ice rink at ARC.  Jonas had a great time watching everyone skate around him as he was pushed on the ice in his stroller.  It was so entertaining he soon fell asleep...oops!!  I guess that was to be expected...he missed his morning nap.

The older kids had a great time skating, but the fun really started when the hockey sticks came out (true Canadians!)

After skating, everyone enjoyed lunch and cake upstairs in a room overlooking the ice rink and pool.

I was so proud of this cake!  It turned out so cute and was delicious too!  Thanks so much Colleen for your recipe and all your help!

I was surprised by how much Jonas enjoyed unwrapping his gifts.  I figured he would maybe pull out a bit of tissue paper and then loose interest, but he stuck it out, stopping only to read the book Matt and Nik had given him about Trucks. Thanks everyone for your generous and thoughtful gifts!

Happy Birthday Jonas!  We love you!
