It's funny how the second time around, you really are more relaxed about things like milestones, weight gain, growth charts, and picture taking. I have no idea how much Jonas currently weighs and while I am pretty sure that he is near the top of his growth chart, I'm not absolutely certain. For some reason, however, the smiling (or lack of smiles) really started to bother me. I had to answer no, when the doctor asked if Jonas was smiling at his 2 month pediatrician appointment and it threw me off my relaxed, been-there-done-that attitude and sent me rushing home to dust off, "What to Expect Baby's First Year." In defense of my crazy, but I would hope understandable, behaviour, I'm not sure that I really thought anything was wrong, I think I just wanted to be reassured that my baby was developing normally and was as happy as...well... his cousin Morgan, who started smiling practically at birth, which I might add, according to "What to Expect Baby's First Year," is WAY ahead of schedule.
As you know from the previous post, Jonas has started smiling and although I hate to admit it, I feel like he is happier because of it (I know I definitely am). What I find funny though is how acutely aware I am of other milestones and milestone-like activities he achieves now. Thankful, my nose is no longer in any book, but I do notice and secretly smile to myself, as if to say..."I knew he was brilliant and well...here's the proof!" :) And yes, I take pictures, like these of him reaching out and grabbing his toys. Mommy is so proud of you Jonas!! ;P
Look at that hand-eye coordination...almost directly in the mouth!
Another direct hit!
Multi-tasking!!! Gouging eye, while chewing on fingers, who knew?!!
Exersaucer may not be an official milestone, but it counts in my books.
Pulling the blanket to his face... again probably not an official milestone?!!
Smiling...doesn't he look so happy!
This one's for you grandma!
...so peaceful (I know...also not a milestone).
