Brothers

It is so interesting to watch the relationship between Ethan and Jonas develop.  I think that Ethan is pretty proud to have a little brother, as he'll often makes a point of letting strangers know that he is a big brother.  But we had to laugh one day when my mom asked Ethan if he liked having Jonas as his brother and he responded, "Well, he sure likes me!"  I guess the response wasn't too surprising as I often find myself going out of my way to make sure Ethan knows Jonas likes him, watches him, smiles at him, etc. as if I think that letting him know will somehow prevent the inevitable jealousy or sibling rivalry issues.  For now, I guess I can be thankful that the only arguing between "siblings" in our house is between Ethan and our dog...go figure!

Rock-climbing!

Ethan has been working on climbing rock walls at various playgrounds around the city for awhile.  He usually needs a bit of help and encouragement to climb successfully.  Today, however, Ethan completed this climb without any support.

Way to go!

Ethan makes his bed!!

Yeah!  Ethan made his own bed!!  Check it out!

Our Graduate...

We attended Ethan's preschool graduation ceremony on Monday, June 21 at Abbotsford Christian Elementary.

It was hilarious to see all of the parents (including me) buzzing around trying to take just the right pictures to capture the memories of this monumental event, that to us marked the beginning of our children's formal education and reminded us just how BIG our kids are getting.  To the preschoolers, however, it was just another opportunity to have fun spending time with friends.  Here is Ethan with his friend James as they got ready for the 'show'...they don't always bring out the best in each other, but they sure have fun together!

The preschoolers performed some songs for the audience and then were presented with a diploma.

After the celebration ended, most of the boys in Ethan's class headed for the playground.  They enjoyed playing together, just living in the moment without realizing that this was, for many of them, the last time they would see each other.  Their lack of understanding was evident as one of the boys yelled over his shoulder, as he was heading home, "See you tomorrow at kindergarten!"  So carefree!!!

Father's Day!

We were lucky this year to be able spend Father's Day with my Dad!  Thanks Dad for coming out to visit!  We love you!

T-Ball Season has Finished!

The 2010 T-Ball Season finished today with awards and a pizza lunch.  Ethan enjoyed playing T-Ball this year, especially with Reuben coaching.  Here are some pictures of him and his team mates with their medals.

We also received Ethan's T-Ball pictures today, complete with playing cards (too cute!).

Strawberry Picking

We started going strawberry picking last year and had such a fun and profitable time that we thought we would go again.  Ethan and I headed out one sunny Saturday afternoon, only to discover the season hadn't opened for picking.  So after we found out when the season at Driedger Farms opened, we headed out again on opening day to see what we could find.  Unfortunately, the day wasn't as sunny and well... the berries weren't ripe either.  Here is a picture of Ethan after we had 'given up' picking for the day (we didn't last long).  Notice all of the berries in his buckets! ;)

Jonas and Sophie

Here is a video of Jonas and his beloved toy Sophie the giraffe.  It is so funny to watch him try and get Sophie to his mouth.  He goes cross-eyed a number of times in his attempt.

Jonas in the jolly-jumper

This was one of the first times Jonas was in the jolly jumper.  He loved it, but who doesn't love feeling weightless and jumping around.  :)

Disneyland

Disneyland

We made it to Disneyland our second day in Anaheim.  I had forgotten how big and busy it was (the last time I had been I was 11 or 12).  The pictures below were taken in the morning, but by the time lunch rolled around, you could hardly move through the streets without being shoved, tripped or bumped by someone.  We ended up spending much of Day 3 at Disneyland as well and part of Day 4.

Frontierland was our first stop.  Ethan and Reuben headed straight for the shooting gallery, and after I finished rolling my eyes and completing my I-knew-it moment, I snapped a few pictures.  After the shooting gallery we decided to head for Big Thunder Mountain.  Oops!!!

... I'm so proud!! :)

After the shooting gallery we decided to head for Big Thunder Mountain...oops!!!

Ethan and Reuben before riding Big Thunder Mountain (Ethan is smiling if you cant quite see).

Ethan and Reuben after Big Thunder Mountain...

Ok, lesson learned...no BIG rides... Dumbo here we come!  Fantasyland was much more Ethan-friendly.  And after hesitating to go on anymore rides, he finally agreed to go on Storybook Land.  Of course it helped that Jonas was allowed too!

And Dumbo (despite the line-up, and really...what is up with that...it really isn't that great of a ride),

And of course, It's a Small World (my mom's favourite ride).

Toon Town was a zoo, but so fun.  Ethan enjoyed touring Mickey's house and getting a photo with him (we waited in line 30 minutes for this, but Ethan had been searching for Mickey throughout the park, so it was worth the wait.  We also got to see Goofy and a few other characters, too!

We arrived in Tomorrowland in the late afternoon, and spent most of the rest of the day riding Astro Blasters, a definite highlight!

We also spent some time riding canoes on the Davey Crockett Canoe ride,

riding the Rocket Rods,

playing in Tarzan's Treehouse,

 and driving cars at Autopia.

We also took in the Celebrate Parade on Main Street, Disneyland.  What a great show!

By the time we got back to the hotel at night we were beat and more than ready to get off our feet!
